Early in February, Damascus Way was privileged to host our first “Release” Community Round Table at our Golden Valley campus. We were so thrilled to welcome a number of esteemed guests, many of whom participated in our two panel discussions. Our first panel consisted of current and former residents, our Golden Valley Director, Marlin and a long-time neighbor and community friend of Damascus Way! Here are some highlights from that first panel discussion. We extend a special thanks to those who participated in the panel and for all they shared with us during this time!
In the second panel discussion, a number of important stakeholders participated in a lively discussion of reentry, voter restoration rights, affordable housing and second chance opportunities for individuals with felonies. We were so honored to welcome Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison, Department of Corrections Commissioner Paul Schnell, Golden Valley Mayor Roslyn Harmon, Commissioner of Housing Jennifer Ho and State Representative Mike Freiberg!
