Successful Rummage Sale at the Rochester Apartments!

Last week, our Rochester Apartments (also known as our Rochester Supportive Housing), had a rummage sale that was open to community members! A wide array of items including glassware, cookware, books, clothing, furniture of all sizes, Knick knacks, holiday decor and an assortment of miscellaneous items were present. Many items were donated by generous community members!

Associate Director of Reentry Services at the Rochester Apartments, Lawson Campbell, stated the following:

“It was encouraging to see many different faces stop by. Some saw our signs for the rummage sale and just stopped to check it out and moved on quickly. However, many who stopped who were previously unaware of Damascus Way and had a lot of questions about what we did, and we had some great conversations getting to share more about the redemptive and restorative work we get to do. I got to share with a few folks the challenges of what we may encounter on a day-to-day basis, but also got to point out how rewarding and fulfilling it is. Many asked about the facility itself, how many men we provided residence/services for, and the types of partnerships we have. Many community partners made a point to stop by and offer encouragement, support, and even make some generous donations. We had local church members, other recovery community members, pastors, and social workers with the county who stopped. We even had staff members and various residents stop out to look through the items and find a few good deals for themselves. We’ve already discussed making this an annual event!”
